A fun and healthy Halloween platter featuring banana ghosts with chocolate chip eyes, fresh fruit, and a creamy yogurt dip. Perfect for parties and kid-friendly gatherings.

Ingredients

Scale
  • 4 large bananas, ripe but firm
  • 2 cups green grapes, washed and dried
  • 1 small honeydew melon, cut into balls or cubes
  • 1 cup strawberries, hulled and halved
  • 2 tablespoons mini chocolate chips
  • 1 apple, sliced thin and tossed with lemon juice
  • 1 cup plain Greek yogurt
  • 2 tablespoons honey
  • 1 teaspoon vanilla extract
  • 1 teaspoon lemon zest (from 1 lemon)
  • Pinch of salt

Instructions

  1. Make the yogurt dip first. In a small bowl, combine 1 cup plain Greek yogurt, 2 tablespoons honey, 1 teaspoon vanilla extract, and a pinch of salt. Zest the lemon directly over the bowl — about 1 teaspoon of zest. Whisk until smooth and creamy. Taste and adjust sweetness if desired. Cover and refrigerate while you prep the fruit.
  2. Prepare the bananas. Do not peel the bananas yet. Slice them into 1/2-inch rounds with the peel still on. Gently pop each piece out of the peel. You should have about 20-24 rounds from 4 bananas. Place them on a plate and pat them dry with a paper towel.
  3. Create the ghost faces. Take a mini chocolate chip and press it gently into the top half of each banana round, pointy side in. Add a second chip below for the mouth. Use a toothpick to position the chips without touching the banana too much.
  4. Prep the remaining fruit. Cut the honeydew melon in half, scoop out the seeds, and use a melon baller to create small rounds. Wash and dry the green grapes completely. Slice the apple into thin rounds and toss with a tablespoon of lemon juice to prevent browning. Hull the strawberries and cut them in half lengthwise.
  5. Arrange the platter. Place the small bowl of yogurt dip in the center of your platter. Surround it with a ring of green grapes. Arrange the honeydew balls around the grapes, spacing them out. Place the strawberry halves with the cut side down. Tuck the apple slices in between, fanning them out slightly.
  6. Add the ghosts. Arrange the banana ghosts facing outward, so guests see their little faces when they reach for them. Place them in clusters around the platter, leaving some gaps for the other fruit to show through. Do not stack them.
  7. Final touches. If you have any extra chocolate chips, sprinkle a few around the platter for a ‘midnight sky’ effect. Serve immediately, or cover with plastic wrap and refrigerate for up to 2 hours.

Notes

Slice bananas with the peel on for clean, even rounds. Keep chocolate chips cold to prevent smearing. Assemble platter no more than 2 hours before serving to prevent browning. Yogurt dip can be made a day in advance.
