This creamy, high-protein overnight oats recipe is a quick and easy breakfast that tastes like dessert. Made with a secret ingredient—blended cottage cheese—it’s packed with protein and keeps you full until lunch.

Ingredients

Scale
  • 1 cup (90g) rolled oats
  • 1 cup (240ml) milk (any kind)
  • 1/2 cup (120g) cottage cheese (small-curd, full-fat)
  • 1/4 cup (60g) plain Greek yogurt
  • 2 tablespoons (32g) natural peanut butter
  • 2 tablespoons (10g) unsweetened cocoa powder
  • 1–2 tablespoons (15-30ml) maple syrup or honey
  • 1 tablespoon (12g) chia seeds (optional)
  • 1 teaspoon vanilla extract
  • Pinch of salt

Instructions

  1. In a blender, combine the cottage cheese and milk. Blend on high for about 30 seconds until completely smooth. Scrape down the sides if needed.
  2. In a medium bowl, whisk together the rolled oats, cocoa powder, chia seeds (if using), and a pinch of salt.
  3. In a separate small bowl or measuring cup, whisk together the Greek yogurt, peanut butter, maple syrup, and vanilla extract. If the peanut butter is thick, microwave it for 10-15 seconds to soften.
  4. Pour the blended cottage cheese mixture into the bowl with the dry oats. Add the peanut butter mixture. Stir everything together with a spatula until fully combined.
  5. Divide the mixture evenly between two mason jars or airtight containers. Leave a little room at the top for toppings.
  6. Place the lids on the jars and refrigerate for at least 4 hours, but overnight is best.
  7. In the morning, take a jar out of the fridge and stir well. If too thick, stir in a splash of milk.
  8. Add desired toppings (e.g., sliced banana, extra peanut butter, chocolate chips, granola) and serve cold.

Notes

For a dairy-free version, use almond milk, dairy-free yogurt, and silken tofu instead of cottage cheese. For a nut-free version, use sunflower seed butter. The oats will keep in the fridge for up to 5 days. Freeze for up to 3 months.
