A fun and festive guacamole recipe that turns a simple dip into a goblin face with tortilla chip fangs. Quick, easy, and perfect for parties.

Ingredients

Scale
  • 3 large ripe avocados
  • 2 tablespoons fresh lime juice (about 1 lime)
  • 1/4 cup finely diced red onion
  • 1 small jalapeño, seeded and minced
  • 1/4 cup chopped fresh cilantro
  • 1 medium Roma tomato, seeded and diced
  • 1/2 teaspoon fine sea salt
  • 1/4 teaspoon ground cumin
  • Tortilla chips (for fangs and serving)

Instructions

  1. Prep your ingredients: Dice the red onion finely, seed and mince the jalapeño, dice the Roma tomato after seeding, chop the cilantro, and squeeze the lime juice into a small bowl.
  2. Cut the avocados: Slice each avocado lengthwise around the pit, twist to separate, remove the pit, score the flesh in a crosshatch pattern, and scoop out the cubes with a spoon.
  3. Mash to your preferred texture: Add the avocado cubes to a mixing bowl and mash with a fork until about 70% mashed with some chunks remaining.
  4. Add the flavor builders: Pour the lime juice over the mashed avocado, then add the diced onion, minced jalapeño, chopped cilantro, diced tomato, salt, and cumin. Stir gently to combine. Taste and adjust salt or lime as needed.
  5. Check the consistency: The guacamole should be thick enough to hold a chip without dripping. If too thick, add a teaspoon of water or extra lime juice.
  6. Create the goblin face: Transfer the guacamole to a serving bowl and smooth the top. Insert tortilla chips vertically around the edge of the bowl, angled slightly outward, to look like fangs. Place 8-10 chips evenly, with two larger chips in the center as front fangs.
  7. Garnish and serve: Sprinkle extra cilantro leaves on top. Serve immediately with extra tortilla chips on the side.

Notes

For best texture, use avocados that are just ripe—yielding to gentle pressure but not mushy. The lime juice helps prevent browning. If making ahead, press plastic wrap directly onto the surface of the guacamole and refrigerate for up to 24 hours. Let sit at room temperature for 10 minutes before serving for best flavor.
