Transform ordinary hot dogs into adorable mummies with crescent roll dough and a spider web ketchup design. This quick and easy Halloween recipe is a crowd-pleaser that comes together in just 20 minutes.

Ingredients

Scale
  • 1 package (8 count) hot dogs
  • 1 can (8 ounces) refrigerated crescent roll dough
  • 1/4 cup ketchup
  • 1 teaspoon yellow mustard
  • Optional: candy eyes, pretzel sticks, shredded cheddar cheese

Instructions

  1. Preheat your oven to 375°F (190°C). Line a baking sheet with parchment paper or a silicone mat. Let hot dogs sit at room temperature for about 10 minutes.
  2. Unroll crescent roll dough onto a cutting board. Press seams together if perforated. Cut dough lengthwise into thin strips, about 1/4 inch wide.
  3. Wrap one strip of dough around each hot dog at a slight angle, leaving a 1-inch gap near the top for the face. Overlap strips slightly and tuck the end underneath to secure.
  4. Place wrapped hot dogs on the prepared baking sheet, spacing them about 1 inch apart. Bake for 10 to 12 minutes, until dough is golden brown and puffed. If using candy eyes, press them on during the last 2 minutes of baking.
  5. While baking, prepare spider web ketchup: spoon ketchup into a small piping bag or zip-top bag. Snip a tiny corner. On a plate or serving platter, pipe a small circle of ketchup, then spiral outward. Use a toothpick to drag lines from center outward to create web effect.
  6. Once mummy dogs are out of the oven and slightly cooled, use a toothpick to dab two small dots of mustard on the exposed hot dog face for eyes. If using candy eyes, press them into the mustard.
  7. Arrange mummy dogs on the serving platter around the spider web ketchup. Serve warm.

Notes

For best results, let hot dogs come to room temperature before wrapping to prevent soggy dough. Don’t wrap dough too tightly; leave a little slack for expansion. Bake until deep golden brown for crispy texture. The spider web ketchup can be made up to an hour ahead. Leftovers can be stored in an airtight container in the refrigerator for up to 3 days; reheat in oven or air fryer for best texture.
