These crispy baked apple chips with cinnamon are a healthy, easy-to-make snack that satisfies cravings for something crunchy and sweet. Made with just apples and cinnamon, they’re perfect for lunchboxes, road trips, or movie nights.

Ingredients

Scale
  • 3 medium apples (Honeycrisp, Fuji, or Gala)
  • 1 teaspoon ground cinnamon

Instructions

  1. Preheat your oven to 225°F (110°C). Line two baking sheets with parchment paper.
  2. Wash and dry the apples. Do not peel them.
  3. Core the apples using an apple corer or by cutting around the core with a knife.
  4. Slice the apples very thinly, aiming for 1/8-inch (3mm) thickness. A mandoline makes this easy.
  5. Arrange the slices in a single layer on the baking sheets, without overlapping.
  6. Sprinkle cinnamon evenly over the apple slices using a fine-mesh strainer. Flip each slice and dust the other side.
  7. Bake for 1 hour, rotating the pans halfway through.
  8. Flip each slice using a spatula.
  9. Bake for another 45-60 minutes, until the edges curl slightly and the chips look golden brown.
  10. Turn off the oven and leave the chips inside for 30 minutes.
  11. Transfer the chips to a cooling rack and let them cool completely for at least 15 minutes.
  12. Test for crispiness: a chip should snap cleanly when bent. If not, return to the oven at 200°F (95°C) for 15-20 minutes.

Notes

For best results, slice apples as thinly as possible (1/8-inch). Low heat and patience are key to achieving crispiness. Let chips cool completely before storing to maintain crunch. Store in an airtight container at room temperature for up to 1 week. If chips soften, re-crisp in a 250°F (120°C) oven for 5-10 minutes.
