This one-pan honey garlic chicken thighs recipe is a quick and easy weeknight dinner that the whole family will love. With a perfect balance of sweet and savory, it’s ready in about 35 minutes and uses simple pantry ingredients.

Ingredients

Scale
  • 6 bone-in, skin-on chicken thighs (about 2 pounds or 900g)
  • 1/3 cup (110g) honey
  • 1/4 cup (60ml) low-sodium soy sauce
  • 5–6 cloves fresh garlic, minced
  • 2 tablespoons (30ml) olive oil
  • 1 tablespoon (15ml) rice vinegar
  • 1 teaspoon (5ml) sesame oil (optional)
  • 1/4 teaspoon red pepper flakes (optional)
  • 2–3 green onions, sliced (for garnish)
  • 1 tablespoon sesame seeds (for garnish)
  • Salt and pepper to taste

Instructions

  1. Preheat your oven to 400°F (200°C). Pat the chicken thighs dry with paper towels and season generously with salt and pepper on both sides.
  2. In a small bowl, whisk together the honey, soy sauce, minced garlic, rice vinegar, sesame oil, and red pepper flakes (if using). Set aside.
  3. Heat the olive oil in a large oven-safe skillet over medium-high heat. When the oil is shimmering, carefully place the chicken thighs skin-side down. Cook undisturbed for 4-5 minutes until the skin is golden brown and crispy. Flip and cook for another 2 minutes.
  4. Pour the honey garlic sauce over the chicken, making sure to coat each piece. Tilt the pan to spread the sauce evenly.
  5. Transfer the skillet to the preheated oven. Bake for 20-25 minutes, or until the chicken reaches an internal temperature of 165°F (74°C) and the sauce is bubbling and slightly thickened. Halfway through, spoon some pan sauce over the chicken for extra glaze.
  6. Remove the skillet from the oven and let the chicken rest for 5 minutes. Sprinkle with sliced green onions and sesame seeds.
  7. Serve immediately with steamed rice or roasted vegetables, spooning extra pan sauce over the chicken.

Notes

Pat the chicken really dry for crispy skin. Don’t move the chicken too early when searing. Watch the sauce consistency—if it gets too dark, reduce oven temperature to 375°F next time. Let the chicken rest before cutting to keep it juicy.
