A lighter version of the classic buffalo chicken dip that delivers all the spicy, creamy, addictive flavor without the heavy calories. Made with Greek yogurt and part-skim mozzarella, this quick and easy dip is perfect for game day or weeknight snacking.

Ingredients

Scale
  • 8 ounces light cream cheese, softened
  • 1 cup plain Greek yogurt (2% or full-fat recommended)
  • 1/2 cup light sour cream
  • 1/2 cup buffalo wing sauce (Frank’s RedHot recommended)
  • 1 tablespoon ranch seasoning mix
  • 1/2 teaspoon garlic powder
  • 1/4 teaspoon smoked paprika
  • 2 cups cooked, shredded chicken breast
  • 1 cup shredded part-skim mozzarella cheese
  • 1/2 cup shredded reduced-fat cheddar cheese
  • 2 tablespoons chopped green onions (for garnish)
  • 1 tablespoon fresh parsley, chopped (for garnish)
  • Celery sticks, carrot sticks, and whole-grain crackers for serving

Instructions

  1. Preheat your oven to 375°F (190°C). Lightly grease a 9×9-inch baking dish with cooking spray.
  2. In a large mixing bowl, combine the softened cream cheese, Greek yogurt, and light sour cream. Beat with a hand mixer on medium speed until smooth and creamy, about 2 minutes.
  3. Add the buffalo wing sauce, ranch seasoning, garlic powder, and smoked paprika. Mix on low speed until well combined.
  4. Fold in the shredded chicken using a rubber spatula until every piece is coated.
  5. Gently fold in the mozzarella and cheddar cheese, reserving about 1/4 cup of cheddar for the top.
  6. Transfer the mixture to the prepared baking dish and spread evenly. Sprinkle the reserved cheddar cheese on top.
  7. Bake for 18-22 minutes, or until bubbly and golden on top. For a browner top, broil for the last 2 minutes.
  8. Let rest for 5 minutes before serving.
  9. Garnish with green onions and parsley. Serve warm with celery sticks, carrot sticks, and crackers.

Notes

Don’t skip softening the cream cheese to avoid lumps. Shred your own cheese for smoother melting. Watch the oven temperature and don’t overbake; the dip should be slightly jiggly in the center when removed. For a vegetarian version, swap chicken for chickpeas or cauliflower. For dairy-free, use dairy-free alternatives. Can be assembled up to 24 hours in advance.
