These quick mummy pigs in a blanket with spicy mustard dip come together in under 20 minutes using simple ingredients. Perfect for Halloween parties or fun weeknight dinners, they feature mini hot dogs wrapped in crescent roll strips like mummy bandages, served with a tangy, spicy mustard dip.

Ingredients

Scale
  • 1 can (8 oz) refrigerated crescent rolls
  • 12 mini hot dogs or cocktail sausages
  • 12 candy eyes or small dots of mustard
  • 1/4 cup whole grain mustard
  • 2 tablespoons Dijon mustard
  • 2 tablespoons honey
  • 1 tablespoon mayonnaise
  • 1/4 teaspoon cayenne pepper
  • 1/2 teaspoon smoked paprika
  • Pinch of salt

Instructions

  1. Preheat your oven to 375°F (190°C). Line a baking sheet with parchment paper. Let crescent roll dough sit on the counter for about 5 minutes.
  2. In a small bowl, whisk together whole grain mustard, Dijon mustard, honey, mayonnaise, cayenne pepper, smoked paprika, and a pinch of salt. Set aside.
  3. Unroll the crescent roll dough onto a clean cutting board. Press seams together if needed. Cut the dough lengthwise into 12 thin strips, about 1/2 inch wide each.
  4. Take one mini hot dog and wrap a strip of dough around it, leaving a small gap near the top for the face. Press the end of the dough gently to seal. Repeat with remaining hot dogs and dough strips.
  5. Place the wrapped mummies on the prepared baking sheet, spacing them about 1 inch apart. Optionally brush tops with beaten egg or milk for extra golden color.
  6. Bake for 10-12 minutes until golden brown and puffed. Let cool on the baking sheet for 2 minutes.
  7. While still warm, press on candy eyes or use a toothpick dipped in mustard to add two small dots for eyes.
  8. Serve immediately with the spicy mustard dip.

Notes

Don’t over-wrap the mummies; use cold dough for easier handling. The dip can be made ahead and tastes better after sitting overnight. For extra crispy bottoms, bake on a preheated baking sheet.
