A quick and easy frozen cocktail blending juicy watermelon, sweet-tart strawberries, fresh lime juice, and tequila into a perfectly balanced, icy summer slushie.

Ingredients

Scale
  • 3 cups watermelon, cubed and seeded (about 450g / 1 lb)
  • 1 cup frozen strawberries (150g / 5.3 oz)
  • 1/4 cup fresh lime juice (60ml / 2 fl oz) – about 2 limes
  • 2 tablespoons agave nectar or honey (30ml / 1 fl oz), adjust to taste
  • 1/2 cup tequila blanco (120ml / 4 fl oz)
  • 1 cup ice cubes (120g / 4.2 oz) – optional
  • Coarse sea salt or Tajín seasoning (optional, for rimming glasses)
  • Lime wedges (optional, for garnish)
  • Small strawberry or watermelon slice (optional, for garnish)

Instructions

  1. Cube the watermelon, removing seeds if any remain. Juice your limes and measure out the agave nectar and tequila.
  2. Optional: Run a lime wedge around the rim of each glass, then dip into sea salt or Tajín seasoning to coat. Set aside to dry slightly.
  3. Add the watermelon cubes, frozen strawberries, fresh lime juice, agave nectar, tequila, and ice cubes into your blender.
  4. Start with a few short pulses to break down the fruit, then blend on high for about 30 seconds until smooth and slushy. If too thick, add a splash of cold water or more lime juice to loosen. If too thin, add a handful more frozen strawberries or ice.
  5. Taste and adjust sweetness or acidity by adding more agave nectar or lime juice as desired.
  6. Pour into rimmed glasses and garnish with a lime wedge or a small slice of strawberry or watermelon on the rim.
  7. Serve immediately for best icy texture. If left standing too long, stir or briefly re-blend before serving.

Notes

Use frozen strawberries for thicker texture without watering down the drink. Fresh strawberries can be used but add more ice. Use a good quality blanco tequila for smooth flavor. Avoid over-blending to maintain slushy texture. Leftover slushie can be stored in an airtight container in the freezer up to 2 days; re-blend before serving. Non-alcoholic version: omit tequila and add sparkling water or lemon-lime soda.
