These Spooky Easy Halloween Jello Shot Cauldrons are a fun, festive, and crowd-pleasing party treat. With vibrant purple and orange layers, a fluffy slime topping, and creepy-crawly garnishes, they’re the perfect Halloween dessert that looks impressive but is surprisingly easy to make.

Ingredients

Scale
  • 1 box (3 oz) grape Jello mix
  • 1 box (3 oz) orange Jello mix
  • 2 cups boiling water (divided)
  • 1 cup cold vodka
  • 1/2 cup cold water (divided)
  • 1/4 cup fresh lime juice
  • 1 cup heavy whipping cream (cold)
  • 2 tablespoons powdered sugar
  • 1/2 teaspoon vanilla extract
  • Green food coloring (optional)
  • Gummy worms (for garnish)
  • Black sanding sugar or crushed chocolate cookies (for “dirt” texture)

Instructions

  1. Make the purple layer: In a medium heat-safe bowl, empty the grape Jello mix. Pour in 1 cup of boiling water and whisk for 2 minutes until fully dissolved. Add 1/2 cup cold vodka and 2 tablespoons lime juice, whisk again. Pour evenly into 12 mini cauldrons, filling about one-third full. Refrigerate for at least 2 hours until firm.
  2. Make the orange layer: In a clean bowl, combine orange Jello mix with 1 cup boiling water and whisk until dissolved. Add 1/2 cup cold vodka and 2 tablespoons lime juice. Let cool for 10 minutes, then gently pour over the set purple layer, filling each cauldron to about two-thirds full. Refrigerate for another 2 hours.
  3. Make the slime topping: In a chilled mixing bowl, combine heavy whipping cream, powdered sugar, and vanilla extract. Beat on medium-high speed until soft peaks form (3-4 minutes). Add green food coloring if desired and fold gently. Transfer to a piping bag or zip-top bag with corner snipped.
  4. Assemble the cauldrons: Once both Jello layers are fully set, pipe a dollop of whipped cream “slime” on top of each cauldron. Sprinkle with black sanding sugar or crushed cookies. Top each with a gummy worm. Serve immediately or refrigerate until ready.

Notes

Temperature is key: keep vodka cold to avoid cloudiness. Ensure each layer is fully set before adding the next to prevent bleeding. For best results, make Jello layers up to 3 days ahead and add whipped cream topping no more than 4 hours before serving. For a non-alcoholic version, replace vodka with cold water or ginger ale.
