Ingredients

Scale
  • 4 cups cranberry juice (unsweetened or regular)
  • 2 cups grape juice (100% grape juice recommended)
  • 2 cups pineapple juice
  • 1 cup lemon juice (fresh squeezed preferred)
  • 1 cup orange juice (fresh squeezed preferred)
  • 1/2 cup simple syrup (homemade: 1 cup water + 1 cup sugar, heated until dissolved and cooled)
  • 4 cups lemon-lime soda (like Sprite or 7UP)
  • 2 cups ginger ale
  • 1–2 pounds food-grade dry ice
  • Ice ring or large ice cubes (optional)
  • Gummy worms or plastic spiders (optional garnish)

Instructions

  1. Make the simple syrup (if using homemade): Combine 1 cup water and 1 cup sugar in a small saucepan. Heat over medium heat, stirring occasionally, until the sugar completely dissolves. Remove from heat and let cool completely. This takes about 10 minutes on the stove and another 20 minutes to cool. You can make this a day ahead and store it in the fridge.
  2. Combine the juices: In a large pitcher or mixing container, combine 4 cups cranberry juice, 2 cups grape juice, 2 cups pineapple juice, 1 cup lemon juice, and 1 cup orange juice. Stir well.
  3. Add the simple syrup: Pour in the cooled simple syrup and stir until fully incorporated. Taste and adjust sweetness or tartness as needed.
  4. Chill the base: Cover the pitcher and refrigerate for at least 2 hours, or up to 24 hours. The punch needs to be very cold before adding dry ice.
  5. Prepare the ice ring (optional but recommended): The day before, fill a bundt pan or ring mold halfway with water or leftover juice. Add gummy worms, plastic spiders, or edible flowers. Freeze for 2 hours, then add more liquid to fill the mold and freeze overnight.
  6. Assemble the punch bowl: Just before serving, pour the chilled juice mixture into your punch bowl. Slowly add 4 cups lemon-lime soda and 2 cups ginger ale. Stir gently to combine. Add your ice ring if using.
  7. Add the dry ice: Using tongs, carefully add small chunks of dry ice to the punch bowl. Start with about 1/2 pound and add more as needed. Do not touch dry ice with bare hands.
  8. Serve immediately: Ladle the punch into cups, making sure no pieces of dry ice get into individual servings. The fog effect lasts about 15-20 minutes per addition of dry ice. Add more dry ice as needed throughout the party.

Notes

Handle dry ice with care—never touch with bare hands. Store dry ice in a cooler with lid slightly open. Add dry ice in stages for best fog effect. Chill juice base thoroughly before adding dry ice. For adult version, add 1 cup vodka or white rum. For creamy version, add 1 can full-fat coconut milk. For spicy version, add sliced jalapeños or cayenne pepper while chilling, then strain.
