These spooky white chocolate witch finger pretzel rods are the easiest Halloween treat you’ll ever make. With a creepy green tint, almond fingernails, and a salty-sweet crunch, they’re a guaranteed hit at any party.

  • 12 ounces white chocolate chips or melting wafers
  • 1 teaspoon coconut oil or vegetable shortening
  • 2–3 drops green gel food coloring
  • 24 pretzel rods
  • 24 sliced almonds
  • Red decorating gel or piping gel (optional)
  • Edible glitter or luster dust (optional)

Instructions

  1. Line a large baking sheet with parchment paper or a silicone baking mat.
  2. Place white chocolate chips and coconut oil in a microwave-safe bowl. Microwave in 30-second intervals at 50% power, stirring well after each interval, until mostly melted (about 90 seconds total). Stir until smooth.
  3. Stir in 2-3 drops of green gel food coloring until evenly distributed.
  4. Hold a pretzel rod by the end and dip it into the melted white chocolate, rotating to coat about two-thirds of the pretzel. Let excess drip off, then place on prepared baking sheet.
  5. While chocolate is still wet, press a sliced almond gently onto the tip of the pretzel, angled slightly upward like a fingernail.
  6. Use a toothpick to draw 2-3 small horizontal lines on the chocolate coating near the tip and middle of each pretzel to create knuckle lines.
  7. Place baking sheet in refrigerator for 15-20 minutes, or until chocolate is completely firm.
  8. Optionally, add a tiny dot of red decorating gel at the base of the almond nail for a ‘blood’ effect.
  9. Transfer to a serving platter or store in an airtight container in the refrigerator until ready to serve.

Notes

Temperature is key: if kitchen is above 75°F, chocolate may not set properly. Use gel food coloring to avoid seizing the chocolate. For best results, make a day ahead and store in fridge. Take out 10 minutes before serving.
